New recipe, new method

Saw this Breakfast in Bed About 6 down in the podcast column.

Wake up to Tyler’s French Toast Waffles with Caramelized Apples and Bacon. Served with a mocha cappuccino whipped up with an immersion blender.

I had to try this( without putting it into the “Want to try binder ).

Tyler Florence   He’s podcasting for Macy’s now.

His is prettier. It may be awhile before I do it again. I will have to learn how to make brioche so my son won’t have to pick it up at Zingerman‘s in Ann Arbor and bring it up here to Hooterville

Spices

Momma found a nice storage-display unit for my most used spices so I could rescue them from the plastic tub under the counter.

Easter

Good times on Sunday. The Lake Orion Jenkins family, Wes, Deb, Jasmine and Dakota came up to visit. Deb brought carrots to glaze, new potatoes to roast and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. We furnished baked ham, home baked bread and peach pie. They also brought an old (to them) board game- Water Works. Teams were Momma and me, Jazz and Wes, Deb and Dakota. Deb and Dakota won.

Gratuitous picture of Brandy on the swing.

Advancing size of Green Gage Plum buds.

Then we went down so the kids could try out the new tractor. Of course I forgot the camera! Deb checked out the furniture from my Father-in-laws estate. She and Wes will take it and restore it. It should go well in their circa 1880 home.

Good news, bad news

The bad news So I bought the tractor & snow blower I’ve wanted for 9 years.

It quit snowing for a month. Sherman advised changing to the mower 2 weeks ago. I got it back a week ago. AND…

… it snowed, and snowed all night!! I have the mower deck on, sitting in the garage. And the snow blower is in the shed.

Last night Momma decided to make a new recipe, Asian beef & noodles. It called for Oriental spice packet from Ramen noodles. We didn’t have any, so I pulled a recipe from the web, 1 part salt, 1part lemon pepper, 1 part garlic powder, 2 parts onion powder, 1 part 5-spice powder, 1/4 part ground ginger, 1 part ground allspice, 1 part ground cloves.

The good news, I had them all.

Using a teaspoon as the base measure, it made 1 ounce of the mix.
After all that it tasted….GREAT. Another culinary adventure for the Axsoms.
