Change in recipe

Well, that recipe didn’t work. It turned into something like rubber cement. It would not come together and just coated all the tools, counter, bowl and my hands with sticky goo. To the trash with it. Then went to one of my favorite chefs, Paula Deen and came up with one using Bisquick Recipe recipe

Of course I used vanilla instead of almond flavoring to go better with the strawberries. It came out verry tasty. I just need to remember cup cake papers next time. That one goes in the book.

My birthday being in June, it comes just when the strawberries were getting ripe in the garden.
They topped either the Bisquik recipe shortcakes, or a Fluffy Biscuit Dough found in the Joy of Cooking cookbook handed down from my grandma.

The only other birthday cake I remember was some kind of pineapple with a frothy topping that my mom made for my 16th birthday.  She wanted to do something different since 8 girls had been invited for a sleepover party.
I had not asked for a party, but mom just loved to ‘have people over’.  In fact, I went to my nanny job for 5 hours that day and did not stay home to help with preparations.

I was the first girl to fall asleep, under the dining room table, and my sister provided entertainment.  I should ask her about it sometime.

Strawberry shortcake, Bisquik recipe remains my favorite way to celebrate.
